The Greatest Decision You’ll Ever Make

At Mission Community Church we believe that the most important and life-changing decision anyone can make is to give their life to Jesus Christ. Becoming a follower of Jesus means surrendering your life to Him and learning to walk in obedience to His teachings daily. But what does that actually mean, and how do you begin?

We All Fall Short

Romans 3:23 tells us, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” We’ve all made mistakes, and all mistakes have consequences. Whether by the choices we make, the relationships we have, or how we treat others. However, sin’s consequences are more severe, because sin separates us from God. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

But in Jesus we have good news, and we are not without hope. Jesus paid the price for our sin through His death on the cross, and His resurrection proves that God accepted His sacrifice for us. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” God's love is not dependent on our performance or worthiness. He loves us in our brokenness, and Jesus gave His life for us before we ever turned to Him. This is God’s grace, Jesus is the door to a relationship with God, and this is great news!

How Do I Receive This Gift?

When you believe in Jesus, His death and resurrection for you, you are forgiven. It’s the beginning of a journey to a new life with Jesus. You are now saved (born again). John 3:3 says, “Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’”

It really is that simple! It’s not about religion, rules, or rituals, it’s really about faith in Jesus.

Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The moment you give your life to Jesus His love surrounds you. Romans 8:38-39 reminds us, “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

If You’re Ready to Begin, Pray This Prayer:

There is no magical formula, or prayer to pray. It’s more about the condition of your heart than the words we say. There are three key things you can remember with ABC:

• Admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, 

• Believe that Jesus died for you and rose again, and 

• Commit to live the rest of your life for Him.

If you’ve never surrendered your life to Jesus, you can do so by repeating this simple prayer:

“Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. Today, I turn from my sins and from living life my own way. I choose You. I receive Your forgiveness, and I give my life to You. Be my Savior and Lord. Come live in my heart, fill me with Your love and Your life. Set me free from what holds me from receiving Your life, Jesus. Help me to live like You and love like You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
